This week’s Weekly Wander takes us a little bit off the beaten path and we aren’t vacationing this time, we have some important business that awaits us. Let’s take a look at Addis Ababa the capitol of Ethopia. Why .. you ask? Great question! We are extending our arms at Luxe + Wander and we want to share our blessings with some girls that are making their start in this world! We aren’t here for the destination this time, we are the people!
We are so incredibly passionate about providing impeccable service to our clients while they are enjoying their precious vacation time and wanted to try to find a way to incorporate amazing vacations and the needs around the world. This beautiful world of ours is filled with incredible places, diverse faces as well as need in every corner of the world. We strive to develop conscientious travelers that leave only their footprints and take only their memories with them, but we cannot ignore the need around us when we travel.
Luxe + Wander will be donating a portion of every trip booked in 2020 to Bete Hosanna in Addis Ababa. Bete Hosanna is a transition home for girls that age out of government run orphanges, these young girls are turned away to the streets with little money, life skills or education to then create a life for themselves. Often times this life is very bleak, they fall into extreme abuse and prostitution as a means to make money, have a place to stay and food to eat. Bete Hosanna is a new organization that was created last year when a group with One Adoption Organization witnessed what was going on with these girls and realized someone needed to step in if they were going to survive. Bete Hosanna houses 10 young girls offering them mentorship, life skills, job skills, how to interview as well as how to run a household - for the next two years these girls are given all the tools they need to succeed! Once the two years is complete the girls are helped to find jobs, housing and community while remaining in the mentoring program - the program is set up this way to be able to welcome a new group of girls. The immediate need for Bete Hosanna is to open a second house for the 15 girls that will be released any day now from the orphanage.
